Hello everybody!
This might sound strange, but the thought suddenly struck me that developing library management for a music player I'm contemplating seems like to much work when Total Commander is so good at file management.
I think along these lines: The management of playlists, and also the structure of your music library, is done as a TC file system plugin. The rest of the player is made separate, outside of TC.
The structure in the music library would thus not be determined by artist and then album, as in most players - this gets unwieldy when you have lots of CD's and even more so when you add compilations in the mix - you might have more artists than albums in your collection. Instead, the structure would be determined by how you import the songs, and you could even make your own folders in the library.
Has anyone else been down this lane, or am I just plain stupid?

(I don't know much about plugins for playing music, so someone else can probably answer that.)
I.m.o. is TC much more than a file manager, by the way.
With F3 one can play a (selection of) soundfile(s) in a simple way for example. At least most common formats like mid, wav or mp3. Unfortunately still not ogg.
You can find a thread about a playlist here :

Hmm... I've frequently got better things to do in TC than playing music.. Having the Lister window active whenever I play music wouldn't work.
I just wanted general input on whether someone had made something similar to what I talked about, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
The playlist thingy you posted doesn't have anything to do with this project - I've already done a playlist maker some time ago
