Bug in the GUI during copying

steps to reproduce:

a file exists in the left panel and in the right panel, panels are displaying different drives, one of them is slower than the other, a network share for example.
press F5 to copy the file from left to right, press OK. Before the overwrite confirmation dialog appears, press 'd' quickly (d for 'Overwrite all ol_der'). The dialog doesn't appear at all then. The copy window cannot be closed, it doesn't react.

Not confirmed! I tried this with a file where it takes a while to get the icon, and the overwrite dialog appeared a while after pressing 'd' - but it did appear!

Anyone else having this problem?

I downloaded the last beta, it is reproducable too. Not a big problem, I have to wait a second more till I press d, however it is a little interuption.
I suspect it has something to do with the quick search by letters. I test it on my work, I have a slower network there than at home.

NOT reproducable here (TC7pb4 on W2k + XP Home). Tested with QuickSearch set to "letters" or "ALT+letters", with target panel being a network share / a floppy / FTP .

Does this problem disappear when you use another Quick Search method?
If not: Perhaps you can rename your WINCMD.INI temporarily, then start TC to see, if the problem persists with standard options / without any plugins?

Unfortunately I still can't reproduce it. I'm using 'letters with search dialog' by default, and never had this problem.

Maybe it's caused by another setting? Please try to start Total Commander with a fresh settings file like this:
totalcmd.exe /i=c:\fresh.ini

Then enable 'letters with search dialog' and try to reproduce the error.

I found out that AlwaysCopyInBackground must be activated, and search dialog.

This should be fixed in RC2 now!

To reproduce, you can copy two files, a large file and a small file. The small file must already exist in the target directory, and the large file must be copied first.
1. Start copying (in the backgound)
2. Type something which will appear in the quick search dialog

-> the Overwrite dialog will show up. This was hanging TC RC1 and older, but should work now with RC2.

I quickly tested this as you described with RC4 and did a cross-check with RC1 (both in XPSP2):

With RC1, the overwrite dialog seemed to appear for about 1/100 sec after the first file was copied and vanished instantly. The BTM hung at 99% and had to be shot.

With RC4, everything worked fine: after the first file was copied, the overwrite dialog was shown like expected and the copy process could be completed successfully.

So I can't give a warranty (as it wasn't my report), but at least here this issue seems fixed.

TC explicitly closes the quick search dialog (which appears because of the 'd') when the overwrite dialog is shown, so you should no longer encounter this error.
