Support of Shell Archives (shar)

Post by *tbeu »

Is there anyone who succeeded to integrate shell archives (shar) in TC - either by MultiArc or as stand-alone packer? I found some open-source tools but had no luck to properly use them inside TC.

XacRett supports unshar. Seems to be no longer maintained.
LibArchive supports shar and unshar. Do not know how to use it as I did not found some examples.
SharUtils supports shar and unshar, however Vs 4.2.1 always crashes on my system.

Your help is appreciated.

I recently came across a shar file and had no problem to extract the files using cygwin environment. I was thinking of how to integrate shar support in TC and started to search for available tools. The tools I found are listed above. XacRet is outdated und does not support creation of shell archives. SharUtils crashes every time when unsharing archives. LibArchive sounds promising but I have no starting point of how to apply the lib. That's why I still use cygwin and started this thread.

Can't we include it in your Plugin Manager for automatic plugin installation to push download number?

We can't. :)
I suggest the Blat Mailer plugin for that. It has 10 000 dls which is OK.

Yes, integrating the cygwin tools is a preferable solution. However I think the archiver (unshar) output might not be of use for MultiArc.

Superb idea: Install plugins directly from mail :!:
