How change path for wcx_ftp.ini if I move it ?
Hi,
If I want to move wcx_ftp.ini to a different folder,
how do I change the path for it ?
And will it work to have it on a network drive ?

Still not working ...
I used inireloc to change location for wcx_ftp.ini .
New location is on a network drive u:\TC_ini\wcx_ftp.ini
Before I used inireloc there was no key at all for path's
But after using inireloc it was.
I checked i registry after using inireloc and noticed that the path
was wrong for wcx_ftp.ini .
Im not sure if I mixed the wcx_ftp.ini and wincmd.ini ,
but the path to FtpIniName was wincmd.ini,
so I changed that to wcx_ftp.ini .
But its not working anyway ..
Now I dont know what to do.

Yes I have read the helpfile !
And the command "/F=ftpname.ini" will not help me in this case.
Its for using multiple files for different users.
NOT for changing location of the wcx_ftp.ini file
Or if i missed it, please tell me where in the helpfile can I find the solution ?
Now I tried an easier location for wcx_ftp.ini, C:\
But that doesnt work eather.
There are three (3) keys that have "wcx_ftp.ini" in them.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ghisler\Total Commander
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ghisler\Total Commander
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1644491937-1580436667-854245398-1003\Software\Ghisler\Total Commander
I checked that all three are the same, they point to C:\wcx_ftp.ini
But its still not working
And if I look at the information if "Help > About" is klicked, its the default settings, C:\Windows\wcx_ftp.ini
How can this be ?
PS I also rebooted the computer after changing settings !

Are you sure about that "NOT"?

I'm using BOTH general ini file & ftp file from different locations other than the default one C:\Windows.
More than that when you see the location in About section of Help that is the TRUE one ...
I suggest reading again the help file section "Command line parameters" and after that you should create a batch file for running TC.
I must say that with a few exceptions(not covering all TC's functions) TC's help is one of the best software's help I have ever encountered.
It's more useful for you to find the command line parameters on your own so that you could customize them on your will rather than a forum user to come with "the solution".
Good luck!
Ok then ...
I also wrote "Or if i missed it..."
Or if I frankly cant figure out how to write a batchfile for this.
I read "Command line parameters"
And I tried this: " wincmd32.exe /F=x:\tcinifiles\wcx_ftp.ini"
It does not work !
Maybee its because its an older version (4.51) ??
I made two shortcuts on my desktop that refers to two different wcx_ftp.ini files. (Using F=wcx_ftp.ini and F=wcx_ftp2.ini )
And that works fine.
But not if i put the wcx_ftp.ini files in any other dir than C:\Windows
Why I asked for a "solution" was because I dont seem to solve this myself, and a forums purpose is mostly that the members help eachother.
If you have a working solution, why cant you just email me a copy of your command line and/or batchfile ?

Solved !
Finally I found out why it didnt work.
There was a few errors...
1/ In my program folder there is one Wincmd32.exe and one Totalcmd.exe
I dont know if the Wincmd32.exe is from an older version,
and remains after I upgraded, I guess its the case.
So using Wincmd32.exe in a command line will not do any good of course, because I my shortcut refers to Totalcmd.exe
In the helpfile the example is using Wincmd32.exe , so thats what I used.
Obviously it will not work !
2/ The tool "Inireloc" does not make the right changes !
Using the tool, I choosed to keep the wincmd.ini file as default (in C:\windows) ,
and the wcx_ftp.ini file on a different drive (d:\tc_infile).
Still did not work....
So I checked the registry and found out that booth the key for FtpIniName AND the key for IniFileName refered to wincmd.ini !
So I changed this on the three places i registry mentioned earlier, and now it works fine

Re: Ok then ...
Sorry, I didn't want to torment you like this!Zoorg wrote:Why I asked for a "solution" was because I dont seem to solve this myself, and a forums purpose is mostly that the members help eachother.

I was going to give you "the solution" on my next post if you wouldn't find out for yourself!

Well.....
Thanks for listening anyway.
Its always good to have response.
Even if I this time found the solution myself.
Now I just have to figure out how to sync the wcx_ftp.ini file
to an FTP server.....
Because I want to use the same file (or autoupdated copy) at home and at work.
Do you have any suggestions ?
