Hello,
I have following scenario :
FIRST FTP server ... let's call it ave ... I open it in LEFT WINDOW
SECOND FTP server ... let's call it doctor ... I open it in RIGHT WINDOW
Now, when I copy ave=>doctor the first file works OK, but subsequent delay / hang
Me, and both FTP servers are on ONE LAN SEGMENT, direct visibility, no obstacles / NAT / firewall / router on the way ...
the IP adresses are
10.x.x.4 ftp ave
10.x.x.16 me
10.x.x.253 ftp doctor
FTP in active mode used from me to both FTP servers.
I installed back Total Commander 7 RC #1 and the copy above worked 100% ... total of 8 files 100 MB each was coppied in high speed.
Looks like there are still some glitches in the FTP code, RC#2 was anounced to have some so not yet fully fixed in RC#3.
What additional info shall I collect ?
Total Commander 7 RC #3 FTP direct copy failure/hang

• Hm… I don't know how your LAN is installed, but IMHO, it should be simpler to copy directly via remote mounted drives……The FTP client not only allows uploading and downloading files, but also supports the direct transfer of files from one remote server to another ( if supported by the servers themselves! )…

Clo
thanks for quote, so it shall normaly work ... good

And both servers support it, when I downgraded to TC7 RC1 it works smooth.
You know, three factors are decision makers why FTP and not mounted drives :
1) technical reasons : one of the systems is Linux, the other one Windows
2) security : neither of the system is mine - I am coppying the data from secured FTP server (I do have access to ) to the PC of my friend (who has NO ACCESS to that FTP)
3) speed : my connection is slowest of those, even one LAN subnet - line betwee those two FTP servers is rougly 70 Mbit, while mine is around 20 Mbit ... so it's terribly lot faster to make direct FTP-TO-FTP server transfer.
So, I hope in TC7 RC4 this will fix this VERY USEFULL functionality.
Regards,
Scorpio.
UPDATE : Hello Clo, I just realized I haven't noticed extra BETA/RC forum.
Would you or other moderator me so kind and move this thread to "TC7 Beta bug reports (English)" ?
Thanks and appologize again for wrong placement.

Nothing was changed in the server to server functions between RC1 and RC3. Are you sure that you tried the EXACT same functions in both versions? For example, it matters which server is shown in the left panel and which in the right one: One always gets the PORT commands, the other always the PASV commands.

I am 99.9% sure the problem is realy RC3 one.ghisler(Author) wrote:Nothing was changed in the server to server functions between RC1 and RC3. I tested several times (left => right and right=> left etc.) Always first file passed second hang or went damn much slower.
When downgraded to TC7 RC1 on the same system I just reopenned the same FTP servers and without any changes (as far as I am aware of) the copy went OK on the first attempt.
I can try once again this evening and let you know the results.
However I must first catch the friend of mine whom computer was target of the FTP copy.
Also I recall previously I have used that functionality and it worked OK.
I know I have coppied both directions (LINUX => WINDOWS as well as WINDOWS => LINUX) using direct FTP stream.
FTP server on Linux is : ProFTPD 1.2.10 Server
FTP server on Windows is : FileZilla Server version 0.9.22 beta or 0.9.23 beta
Will post more today evening if I succeed to perform more tests.

So, I have redone the tests.
This time, copy worked OK with both TC7 RC#1 and TC7 RC#3.
I don't understand what it was doing yesterday.
The only difference is that yesterday I had TC7 RC#3 installed over RC#2.
Today, had tested TC7 RC#1 and then install over TC7 RC#3.
I am sorry for false report, or yesterday in may have simply a bad day.
Maybe a .dll hang in memory or so.
If it shall appear again I will redo all tests left/right and so on.
Regards,
Scorpio.
