visual glitch in compare by content
when comparing large (about 2MB) text files, mouse cursor keeps switching between normal (arrow) and busy (hourglass) cursor causing quite a flicker for few seconds.
both b3 and RC1, WXPproSP1;
custom cursors (not hardware ones), no theming programs of any kind...

Cannot confirm. Here the cursor is turned into the hourglasses and remains it till comparing is finished. I'm using XP SP2 Pro, default cursors, TC 7.0rc1.

It sounds like Total Commander is bombed with messages from the outside (e.g. WM_SETTINGSCHANGE) which causes it to constantly redraw. Trx to close background programs until the flickering stops.

nope. killed everything except services, including explorer. still switches cursors even on classic theme and with standard cursors...Try to close background programs until the flickering stops.
let's try something else: get these two files and try to compare them (hopefully on a not-very-fast machine - 1GHz or less)...
Yes, but short

Hello !
• I can confirm : I get it with your files and settings.
• However, I see the hourglass pretty “pale" and flickering no more than one second about…
• Strangely, it doesn't appear on a video I attempted to make - despite that the cursor is set as visible for this video-
like whether that cursor is not belonging to the upper visible thread…
- This occurs each time you press the Compare button. Either if one has a dark background or if one keeps
the mouse cursor on the button (grey here), one'll see almost nothing…

keep the cursor above listboxes. btw, i just noticed one thing: comparing when the mouse cursor is outside (for example keep it over taskbar and activate the feature with alt, f, y) is way faster then when i keep the cursor over listboxes...
also, your machine is notably faster than mine. try tripling (concatenating file's contents onto itself a few times) the files...

This should work now in RC3 and RC4. Please test it!
