TC7rc4 - Compare By Content, Deleting non existing lines

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC7rc4 - Compare By Content, Deleting non existing lines

Post by *white »

Suppose, in the Compare contents dialog (menu Files/Compare By Content), you opened two files as shown in this screen shot.
Go into Edit mode and press the Delete key.
The Undo button is enabled indicating something is changed. Like what?
Now place the cursor on the last non existing line and press the Delete key. Why is the line below moved up and why does this line gets line number 0? See screen shot.

It deletes the line break and combines the line with the next one, just like when you press del at the end of an existing line. Of course you don't see anything when the next line is empty too.
ow place the cursor on the last non existing line and press the Delete key. Why is the line below moved up and why does this line gets line number 0?
For the same reason: The next line is combined with the current one into one (new) line.

Try this: place the cursor behind "three" and press Del. The two are combined into one new line without the line break.

So the behaviour you see is intentional.

Fixed in TC7rc5.
The rest is by design. This thread may be moved to "TC7 Behaviour which will not be changed".
