Separate directory tree: Quick search doesn't scroll to item

Post by *Lefteous »

When quick searching in the separate directory tree and a match is found outside the current view TC doesn't scroll to the found item correctly. It's scrolled as last item and for this reason hidden by the quick search dialog.

In the filelists the found item is scrolled into view and 2-3 items are displayed below the found item.

Not confirmed here. However, the quick search dialog is shown below the separate tree here, which is of course only possible if there is enough space (command line and/or function key bar).

Indeed it would be a good idea to add this too. I will add it to my wish list.

2Lefteous, I am not sure what you mean. Can you supply a screen shot?

Both are hidden here as the command-line bar can be activated easily by pressing a single button so it's no surprise it the found item is hidden by the quick search in this case.

OK thanks.

It's quite difficult to show this on a screenshot. Do the following:

1. Make sure command-line and function key bar are hidden.
2. Open a large directory in the separate tree which doesn't fit into the view.
3. Enter a few letters of directory which isn't displayed in the current view (for example directory "Melon" and the current view displays only directories from "Apple" to "Cherry").
4. Now the found the item is hidden by the quick search window which is quite irritating. I first thought the tree wasn't scrolled at all.

It is not only in the separate tree is it?
Just make sure command-line and function key bar are hidden and move the window down against the task bar. Then try quick search. See this screen shot.

Strange, here the found item is scrolled into view and 2 items are displayed below the found item:

:) Hello Christian !

• A bit aside : This occurs too here using only "Letters" (no dialogue)
At first try in the sep tree, the first found item is beyond the bottom of the window.
- Then, it's always the last item @ bottom… Command line and Fx buttons not displayed
(I've an extra-menu to do so quickly…)

I can not confirm this with neither 1 nor 2 sep. trees (status bar, command line and function key buttons all disabled).

I did not have 2 items below. (Look at the scroll bar in my screen shot. It is at the end.)

Maybe the Quick search box should be displayed a bit to the right so when a found directory entry is under the Quick search box it would be partly visible.

And maybe it's a good idea to be able to move the Quick search box by clicking it and dragging it to another place.
