Directory Hotlist: Entries disapear
Environment: RC4 on XP Prof (5.1.2600)
Entries disappear from hotlist. This have occured several times, but I'm not able to reproduce the problem (on demand, that is!).
I've been doing som configuring of the hotlist (moving and deleting items), but if that has anything to do with the problem I don't know...
Best regards
Kenneth

Sorry, never seen this problem, and I use the hotlist a lot. How many entries does your hotlist contain?

Maybe you have chosen "Remove" by mistake? If you are in a directory of the hotlist, the "Add directory" item will be changed to "Remove directory".

Hello !
• Maybe did you use "R" as a hotkey for a directory ?
- In that case, it stands for the Remove entry…
- The only way to use that letter is to use the standalone English LNG
and to remove this hotkey (that I do here in French to get more letters, since the letter is "E", not "R")
Kind regards,
Claude

To avoid accidentally executing this "remove" action you can define another entry with the same hotkey as remove (&R...).Clo wrote:Maybe did you use "R" as a hotkey for a directory ?

This way the removing is not executed without confirmation of the user ("remove" is first displayed after pressing "rr", and then only executed after pressing return).
BTW, in german the hotkey is the same for add & remove (both "A" for "Aktuell"), so there's quite a high risk to accidentally remove an already existing entry...

Suggestion: "Remove" will probably be used for one or two entries. If someone wishes to remove more entries, he would probably use "configure". Wouldn't it be better if there was a confirmation dialog in "remove"?

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Support (with option to disable for the confirmation-haters).wanderer wrote:Wouldn't it be better if there was a confirmation dialog in "remove"?
But I found a workaround (changing TC's *.LNG file), which disables the hotkey for removing: http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=67834#67834

If you use a Filemanager you are expected to use your brain and eyes and all what god gave you...

Ok, but...Sir_SiLvA wrote:Only if its turned off by default
...i'll only say this. Give a user a panel with 100 buttons. 99 do nothing, one of them resets the computer. Chances are at a critical moment he'll push that one!Sir_SiLvA wrote:If you use a Filemanager you are expected to use your brain and eyes and all what god gave you...

That's why Recycle Bin and similar means of protection exist. To save you from trouble in the 1% of the cases you won't be focused on what you're doing.
