rc5: Multiple ftp progress windows

Post by *SPeller »

Look at this picture:
http://speller.narod.ru/img/other/multiftp.png
This is not Photoshop ) How I get this:
1. Run an ftp text search.
2. Make some impossibility of downloading (I do not know what happen but after some timeout TC just say "Can not download file xxxx:OK-Cancel").
3. Wait for connection timed out.
4. Click OK on the error box. TC will show exclamation box "Not connected!:OK" about 13-15 times. After it, usual search widow is shown.
5. I had some search results. I pressed F3 on one of it.
6. I get bottom progress window and exclamation box "Not connected!:OK" at once. Press OK.
7. Now I see new exclamation "File zzzzz not found:OK". Press OK again.
8. Done! :) Progress window remain visible. Pressing the Cancel button or close button in the window corner has take no effect. Search window is enabled and it is possible to repeat these steps again and again.

Closing search window hides all progress windows.

PS: I think the FTP module need to be overworked and must comply to some behavior politic. In last time I often think some about this: "if I use FTP in TC - i must expect some problems" and "if disconnect happen - problems would be". It is hard work to overwork, but I must be done. imho.
PS: Sorry for my english.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this problem. Can you give me an example for a file in step 2 which you cannot download?

I tried to reproduce this and I think my first ftp server disconnects by timeout even if there is activity and TC come to step 2.

But I tried to reproduce this with local ftp server (Serv-U):

1. Use anonymous account
2. Create 2 files test1.txt and test2.txt with the same text "test" in the user directory.
3. In the user cnfiguration permit list access to the file test2.txt and deny read access to them.
4. Connect to the server and run search text "test".
5. TC will find test1.txt and show error (with question icon) when tried to download test2.txt. Do not press any button in this dialog.
6. Kill connection from Serv-U Administration interface
7. Close the dialog, locate test1.txt in the search results and press F3.
8. You will get two messages "Not connected" and "File not found" and unclosed progress window.

At this moment I have no time to test timed out behavior and 15 "Not connected" messages.

Can anyone test this please? I could no longer reproduce it with TC 7.02, but maybe I'm doing something wrong?

If I understand correctly, this problem (or very similar to it) has been tested during 7.01 beta-test and fixed in 7.01b3.

Of course, it's desirable that the author of the report tested it as well...
