TC7 RC5 Unpacking files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC7 RC5 Unpacking files

Post by *spooty »

I configure TC to use WinZip or WinRar (newest versions) for unpacking files. The file sizes are way below the 2 gig limit listed on the main page. But with my recent upgrade to B5, the packing command does not invoke the external program, but uses it's internal unpacker instead. I've double checked the setup to ensure I've unchecked Use Internal Packer when possible and double checked my pointer to the correct directory and program to unpack, but still get the internal unpacker.

Additionally, the dialog box for the unpacker hits 100% rather quickly but is still unpacking archives (for quite some time on some of the mulitple archive sets). While this is just a minor inconveinence, I prefer the external packers so I can continue to perform other tasks while unpacking files - which, I cannot do using the internal packer.

I did not have this problem in B1 or B3. I'm using latest version of Windows Vista if that's any concern.

Thanks in advance.

:) Hello !
…I prefer the external packers so I can continue to perform other tasks while unpacking files - which I cannot do using the internal packer. …
• Indeed, you can ! Set the right entries in <wincmd.ini> :
[Configuration]
AlwaysPackInBackground=Flag
0 : Disabled (default)
1: zip in background
2: zip+external packers in background
3 : like 2, but run external packers minimized
------------------------
AlwaysUnpackInBackground=Flag
0 : Disabled (default).
1 : unzip in background
2 : unzip+external unpackers in background
3 : like 2, but run external unpackers minimized
• Hoping this helps…

Works fine wit RC5 here.
I have configured the winrar.exe as external.
TC always uses the external one.

mine doesn't.
if it is a program installation, which one is it and where do we find it?
if you created the exe archive, can you upload it somewhere?

Sorry, this forum won't let me post that.

Search using google for "sourceforge portableapps standard download" and it will take you there - first link.

i can not download a 90meg file you indicated, but i can tell it is a 7zip (v4.42) SFX archive.

commander unpacks all 7z SFX archives fine here (7zip plugin v0.4.8 made by adam strzelecki), subdirectories and all. which plugin for 7zip do you use?

2General1: This behaviour is often related to a defect or incomplete download. (The inventory is OK, but the content is invalid)

Select the file and try "File - Test Archive(s)" to verify that it is valid ...

OK, doesn't seem to be a problem of TC itself - moved to "behaviour which will not be changed".
