Synchronize Dirs - doesn't work with locale.

Post by *simon12 »

Unicode filenames with the local locale is not compared or display correctly in Sync Dirs. (It is however displayed correctly in the main TotalCommander window.)

Unicode filenames with the local locale
This is a contradiction - is it a Unicode name from a different code page, or can it be converted to ANSI of the local code page?

Btw, Unicode file names work just fine here in sync, just not Unicode directories...

I have found that Unicode file names do not work fine in sync, unless the Unicode characters happen to be in the currently selected codepage.

For example, depending on the currently selected codepage, if you have files containing the German umlaut (ä ö ü) and files containing Cyrillic characters (e.g. я ъ ж ...), you can either see the Cyrillic characters, or you see the German characters, but not both at the same time.

The characters you cant see are replaced by a black box. (Note: this is only on the sync files display, the main TC window displays both sets of filenames ok.)

Try using a different font for the dialog boxes, in configuration - options - fonts. For example, Microsoft Sans Serif contains these Unicode characters.

Great, thanks. I had MS Sans Serif, and when I changed it to Microsoft Sans Serif it worked.

Now all we need is the unicode for the directory names ....

OK, moving to fixed (fixed by changing font).
