Duplicate tab not focusing newly created tab

Post by *wanderer »

Then right-clicking on a tab and selecting "duplicate this tab" instead of pressing CTRL+T, the newly created tab does not receive the focus. I don't know if this is intentional but since it has CTRL+T as a shortcut and it does not behave the same, i'd consider it a bug.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Confirmed :!:

While we are at Tab-Bugs:
- Lock a Tab but allow to change the folder
- now enter a subfolder
- If u press CTRL+T the new Tab has the new Name
- if u use right-click-menu it has the name of the locked-folder
....

2wanderer: I would consider this as a feature :)

This way you can duplicate a tab just to preserve the current location without interupting your workflow !

If you want to work on the duplicated tab, you can use CTRL-T (for keyboard-freaks) or just double-click on a free space at the tab-line (for mouse-junkies)

So leave the "duplicate tab" for background creation as it is ...

I don't see much use for such a feature. Most of the time when you create a new tab, you want to do something with it, not create it and leave it there just to take up space or do something with it after 10 minutes.

It's not an easy shortcut to use when you have one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse.

Well, this is a solution (if you have enough space in the tabs bar) :)

This is indeed intentional: You can right click on ANY tab and duplicate it this way, while Ctrl+T duplicates only the current tab. Therefore these two are completely different functions.
- If u press CTRL+T the new Tab has the new Name
Correct, as it should be (it's not locked)
- if u use right-click-menu it has the name of the locked-folder
Where? The right click menu does not show the name of the tab. When I choose "rename", it also shows the new name...

Create a folder structure like
- C:\A\B\C
- now enter c:\A lock the tab with allow folder change
- enter C:\a\b in that tab
- now rightclick on that tab
- duplicate tab
- Tab Name is "A" instead of Being "B"
I consider this a BUG :!:

Ah, I see what you mean. Indeed the title is kept by mistake in this case. I cannot promise that I can fix that before the release of TC 7.01. It's a minor annoyance, but may be very difficult to fix.
