Sorting directories by extension -> error

Post by *tc700_user »

In v7.00, when you select the sorting files/directories by extension (clicking on the head of its column), it doesn't sort the directories by their extensions (but the files are ok), even having selected Configuration > Options > Display > Sorting directories > Like files (also by time).

Examples with directories only:

In TC v6.56:

Sorting by name (TC v6.56) -> OK:

dir_a
dir_a.bak
dir_b
dir_b.bak
dir_c
dir_c.bak

Sorting by extension (TC v6.56) -> OK:

dir_a
dir_b
dir_c
dir_a.bak
dir_b.bak
dir_c.bak

In TC v7.00:

Sorting by name (TC v7.00) -> OK:

dir_a
dir_a.bak
dir_b
dir_b.bak
dir_c
dir_c.bak

Sorting by extension (TC v7.00) -> BUG:

dir_a
dir_a.bak
dir_b
dir_b.bak
dir_c
dir_c.bak

As sorting by name, so here is the error.

I hope this helps for next version.

Thank you

Hi Claude...

No bug, no good news.

Anyway, I think that old way is better, but the solution is can choose with 'UseExtensionsInDirs'.

I've searched in history.txt and tried it, but it isn't still working. It should be the better solution.

I hope that Ghisler will have it in next version (please).

Thank you very much Claude.

:) Again…

• You're welcome.

UseExtensionsInDirs=1¦0 had been proposed as an INI entry seven months ago, and might be added.
- However, it's nowhere to be found in the current History.txt (7.0).
- So, I guess it has been simply … forgotten :|

• We'll have versions soon with minor bugs¦lacunaæ fixes, so what about unearth the topic in the quoted grave-thread ? ;)

it is SortDirExt=1 not UseExtensionsInDirs=1
20.02.07 Added: wincmd.ini [Configuration] SortDirExt=1 re-enables sorting of directories by extension (if sorting directories by name is turned off)

Thank you very much

Really, I discover new functions all days after many years using TC:

SortDirExt=1 works fine!!!

Perhaps would be a good suggestion to add a checkbox in Configuration > Options > Display doing this selection easier. I'm going to do this suggestion in its forum.

Thank you very much Claude and Petermad for answer me, and give the solution so quickly.

Again... many thanks from Spain.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to: "TC7 suggestions (English)" ?

No, it's not a suggestion, it's fixed with =1
I pointed tc700_user's attention to the right name for the parameter (SortDirExt not UseExtensionsInDirs). SortDirExt has existed since TC7 pb4 rc1 - so it can hardly be called a bugfix in TC7.01

I call that a suggestion... ?
