I wonder if your previous remark on not reading the thread was referred to my post.
Yep, it was.
If this is the case, I can tell you that I read it very carefully !!!
Have you also visited the link, which I have asked to check because it contains enough information? On it you can also find FLV player, the first Ctrl-F gives a match.

If following other users' links is not part of your "reading a thread"-mission – for me it is, because I neither want to give nor read redundant information permanently – take my excuses please.

Greetings from (the dumb and arrogant)

Ooooohhhhh, yeesssss my dear, quite in the bottom of the page. So I humbly ask, why didn't you told it before? Why haven't you spent a little of your precious time to say, for example, "Look, I pointed to the same program in the link I submitted on my post" ? No, you just spitted out some biting comment, thinking yourself a big man who has put a poor noob in his place. This is what I call arrogance.
Check this site, it contains a bookmarklet for YouTube and enough info:
And this line was enough for you to deduce that in that site there was a link to the same player of my post? Wow, how smart !!!

As I told before, I just shared some of my knowledge. Was it redundant? Why not? What's wrong with it? Better be redundant than lose some important information. A casual reader looking for a FLV player could have skipped your link, but surely would not have skipped mine.

Or do you care only for those who have time to read and follow every link in every post? And to read each page, however long, from the top to the bottom? Arrogance again.

Never presume. Always be helpful (try at least).

Of course not, how could I misunderstand YOU, the smart guy who prefers to call me dumb before waiting for an answer that could clear things up in case it was a misunderstanding? :)

When you are faced with a comment by me again:
Watch the emoticons, they will tell you if my comment is meant nicely or not. There was no need to be that upset, it was your choice.

Now, please choose between trying to live with (and maybe understand) my biting comments in the future or put me on your ignore list. I have wasted too much energy in quarrels like that in the past, that's why I am old and tired now and have no interest anymore. You are too late, sorry. ;)

Yeah, I admit I am a bit too easy to catch fire. And sometimes I can get carried too off by my own rage.

Was it a nicely emoticon? I thought it was sarcastic. If I misunderstood it...

I try my best to not ignore anyone, not even those who give me biting comments :). I can start a fight, and get all the consequences of it, but I am not so childish to ignore you just because we had a little quarrell.

Anyway, I agree: let's put an end to all this (before the moderators start bashing on our heads)

With new ffdshow versions, FLV is activated by default, so uninstall your ffdshow and replace it with stable release from here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941

Additionally you need the FLV-Splitter from here, register it with regsvr32:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303

Do you really like Media Show? As if you don't, I would always prefer MMedia plugin or decent separate applications.

If you need some hints for recommended players, drop me a line.

at the moment I also managed to work like this:

1) download http://www.jeroenwijering.com/upload/jw_flv_player.zip
and copy into TC folder just the file flvplayer.swf (mine is into %COMMANDER_PATH%/Tools)
2) create a file flvplayer.bat like the following:

Code: Select all

%1 file:///%2/Tools/flvplayer.swf?file=%3
3) create a button where:
Command:

Code: Select all

%COMMANDER_PATH%\tools\flvplayer.bat
Parameters:

Code: Select all

"%%ProgramFiles%%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox" %%COMMANDER_PATH%% %P%N
Start Path:

Code: Select all

%COMMANDER_PATH%
it's reliable, opening a browser view of the file, portable and doesn't require any installation of any type. So can also stick on the USB where I carry portable version of TC..

With the FLVSplitter installed mediashow now react to flv files but just hanging.. :-(

You need splitter + ffdshow!

Also it makes no sense to try Media Show if the FLV file doesn't play in Windows Media Player as well. If it plays in WMP but not in Media Show that's a problem of Media Show. If it doesn't play in WMP, maybe your FLV is not encoded with H.263 but with ON 2 VP6.

Upload a sample vid which hangs your Media Show, then I can try. Anyway, it works here like I told you but my system is not polluted with codec junk, this may also be a problem...

Check with GSpot what format it is:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

If it is On2 VP6/7 you need to download that one if you wanna use WMP or any other Direct Show player and plugins like Media Show and MMedia. ffdshow only supports H.263, which is used by YouTube for example.

Imho it's better to stick with separate players.

MPlayer plays such files out of the box, there are some decent frontends available meanwhile:
http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/windows/
http://rulesplayer.lessequal.com/
http://mpui.sourceforge.net/

Also GOM Player plays these files:
http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html

KMPlayer too:
http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php

MPlayer frontends and KMPlayer store settings in INI files, you can use them on USB, GOM player uses registry unfortunately but is nevertheless very nice for home usage.
