Do you prefer the DirBrackets on or off by default?
If there are a lot of users that would like it to be off by default, maybe we can convince Christian...

Ummm I daresay that's gonna be a little hard, based on current # of votes .. I really like it the way it is, honestly. And, really... it's a breeze to change in settings, isn't it?

I’m not sure about the following but a can remember a thread (maybe on the old forum) about configuring parameters of the installation process. I don’t know if there was a possibility to modify ini value settings in order to make the non-brackets option off by default. Maybe someone with a better memory can help you here!

I think compie knows it's possible via .ini file (look at the post linked above) but he would like Christian changed the default value.

Anyway I dont't think Christian will do it but he could add the option to change it via configuration dialog (not only editing .ini file).

Yes I know it's possible to change it in the .ini file, but I thought a lot of people didn't like the default setting. But most votes are made for the option default on, so the defealt setting is ok.

I was looking at the screenshot of TC7 on the homepage:

And DirBrackets seem to be off by default in TC7! That's great!

Actually that's not true. I made the current screenshots and did alter some default settings to indicate that there exist additional cofiguration options (alternate line colors, colors by filetype, brackets turned off).

The default setting is still with brackets enabled.

IMO, if I didn't know TC and I would have interest for an alternative file manager, I wouldn't be convinced even to download such thing. To actually install it? - somebody would have to beat me hard...

As for the dir brackets - default off for me.

Well, actually the current shot is some kind of a quick update for the previous screenshot and more a preliminary solution.

I already work on one (or more) new shots to be more representative (I hope Christian agrees to show a non-bold font in the new shots, because the default font kind of 'blurs' the whole interface...).

Unfortunately this will go on slowly, as I'm loaded with work at the moment...

I have dirbrackets on.
I would like another way to distinguish between filenames and foldernames (other than changing the background color, i would like to set a bold text for the foldernames). But for now this is good for me, i'm used to the brackets so i don't even notice them.

You can set the color of the folders, but not the background:
Configuration / Color / Define colors by file type... / Add... / Define / Advanced / Attributes: Directory.
