Date of a received ZIP file

Post by *menet »

Hi,

When I receive or download a ZIP file, it gives often to the ZIP file, the date of the download. :?

Is there a simple way with a TC function to change the ZIP file date to be equal to the date of the more recent file included inside the ZIP (Like when I create a ZIP with TC ) ? :?:

Note that I don't want to add then delete a file in the zip. I also know that I can manually edit the date in the properties file.

If TC can't do it, is there a TC plugin to do that ? :?:

Best Regards :wink:

Hi van Dusen,

I have tried to use your tool (1.2.2a version) but I have encountered problems.

1st : At first try, it works in Deutsch and I prefer English or better French :P
So I have edited the INI file to have Language=ENG and then understood better the error message 8)

Later, I will create a FRA section if you want when I will be successfull using your tool... :twisted:

2nd : I have created a new menu in TC to call the EXE and gived %n or %L for parameter but I have always the same error message : "No directories or archives selected!"

I have taken in account a previous important note
van Dusen : Mon Aug 14, 2006 3:25 pm wrote:The string for key #26 ("No files selected!") in the language section xxx should be identical to key #51 in your wincmd_xxx.lng-file.
But it doesn't change the error. If this should always be made, it should be written in the comment of the INI file !

Does 7-Zip is mandatory to use your tool and is the reason of the error ?

Can you help me to use your tool ? :oops:

EDIT : Note that I use TC 7.01 :!:

I continue to test but I have found that if I select a ZIP, I have this error because 7-ZIP must be installed to not have this message.

I have not 7-ZIP installed on my PC, only a plugin 7zip (7zip.wcx) and an EXE file "7za.exe" that I use for FEBE (Firefox extension) but it seems not good :cry:

In a future version, can you add a different error message in this case ?

It works well with the last 7-ZIP version 7.42 (recent beta not used) taken at http://www.7-zip.org/ :P :P :P

I continue to test and look to make a translation for French. :twisted:

You should add in the ZIP file a little SetFolderDate.TXT file that explains the tool with the informations that you have gived in the Forum and others like my remarks... 8)

SetFolderDate_1.2.2a does not want to change the date of one of my file because it contains a "&" (ampersand character) in the beginning of its name (8 first characters). :?

Renaming the file is a solution 8)

In one of my test, the file was named "&.RAR", then the tool loops. I had to kill the 7-Zip process :!:

My last remarks :

- A warning : The clipboard is cleared at SetFolderDate start :shock:

- Why the "6=that of a certain file:" choice is not at radio button ? :?:

- My French translation :

Code: Select all

[FRA]
1=SetFolderDate V1.2.2a
2=Modifier la date et l'heure
3=le fichier le plus récent
4=le fichier le plus ancien

20=La date/heure donnée est invalide

23=Erreur !
24=Fermer
25=Soyez patient, SVP...
26=Pas de fichier sélectionné!
27=Pas de dossiers ou archives selectionnés !

Hi menet,

thank you very much for testing SetFolderDate and your helpful comments! :)

menet wrote:Later, I will create a FRA section if you want when I will be successfull using your tool... :twisted:
Unfortunately my french is very poor :( (I had my last french lesson 25 years ago)... thus I forbeared from including a self-provided french translation. ;)

menet wrote:2nd : I have created a new menu in TC to call the EXE and gived %n or %L for parameter [...][/b]"
In order to get a list of the selected entries, SetFolderDate sends cm_CopyFullNamesToClip to TC. You don't need to pass any parameters to SetFolderDate.

Thanks, I will add an appropriate hint to the INI-file.

menet wrote:[...] but I have always the same error message : "No directories or archives selected!" [...] Does 7-Zip is mandatory to use your tool and is the reason of the error ?
Yes, 7z.exe is mandatory, if you like to redate archives. 7-zip (7z.exe) is used to retrieve the dates from files inside archives. If 7z.exe is not found, SetFolderDate works only for directories. The message "No directories or archives selected!" is prompted in this case, if only archives and/or other files are selected.

menet wrote:In a future version, can you add a different error message in this case ?
I agree with you, I will add some more specific error messages.

menet wrote:You should add in the ZIP file a little SetFolderDate.TXT file that explains the tool with the informations that you have gived in the Forum and others like my remarks...
Full ACK! I will add a Readme file in future.

Strange... I can't reproduce this so far...

menet wrote:A warning : The clipboard is cleared at SetFolderDate start
This is bad, indeed. I will fix this in a future version.

menet wrote:Why the "6=that of a certain file:" choice is not at radio button ?
Because it is an option, which is intended to be used together with that of the newest / oldest file. A certain file can be found in several (sub)folders. Moreover, you can define file patterns (e.g. *.jpg, which could apply to multiple files.

menet wrote:My French translation [...]
Great! :) May I add your translation to a future version of SetFolderDate?

Thank you! :)

:) Hello, bonjour !
16=Prévisualisation
:shock: What about Aperçu ?

• “19=Date invalide” and others : “Invalide” in French is not “invalid” in English, sorry. "Pas valable” ou “incongrue”…
- As an adjective, it's right only for LAW texts and the like, nothing to to with the strings in a programme…

2Clo,

Thanks to have made a review of my translation. :P

- You are right "Aperçu" i better :D

- For "Invalide", I use it so much in English, that I have not taken in account that in French the adjective, it's right only for LAW texts and the like.
So, we will use : "Non valable"

2van Dusen,
Thanks again for your good tool and reply :P :P :P

Can you update the French text, like Clo corrects it with the following code ?

Code: Select all

16=Aperçu
19=Date non valable
I suppose that Clo will agree with it. :lol:

Have a nice end of Week-End. :wink:

:) Again…
I suppose that Clo will agree with it. :lol:
• Yes, I do…
- Also the same for :
20=La date/heure donnée n'est pas valable
or maybe shorter :
20=Date et heure données pas valables.
or even :
20=Estampille de date pas valable.
Note : In –>
9=Courante
this is the only case where “Courant¦e” is right for “Current”, because “Tempus fugit”.
- For all other items (files, directories, windows…) it must be either “En cours” or “Actuel¦le” or “Actif¦Active”…

• To end the nit-picking¦hair splitting (into four parts according to the diameter),
generally one can't use the future in English after “When…”, it's implicit… 8)

:arrow: Clo and Vansumsen
:oops: I haven't review again all, it is not visible like it is error messages
Thanks again for correction. :lol:

:arrow: van Dusen,
So there is another change in French :

Code: Select all

20=La date/heure donnée n'est pas valable
Other suggestions :
Can you make bigger the 1st (Directory/Archive) and 4th (Filename) columns ?
The 5th column seems unused, its space can be used for 1st and 4th columns.

If the new date/time to be set will be the same than the current (old) date/time of the directory/archive, can we see an equal sign (or word) rather than seeing the same date/time a second time, to see that nothing will be done ? 8)

Hi van Dusen,

I have not seen another site that this TC forum where your useful tool is described. :roll:

Can you make it available on a site like TOTALCMD.NET ?
Then we will see it and find easily its updates. 8)

It suppose that it can be made using this topic "Plugins and utilities NOT found on Totalcmd.net"

EDIT: You can also propose your tool to Christian Ghisler to be in the TC Addons pages. :twisted:

Best regards :wink:
