Thank you for the translation. I have decided to leave the documentation unchanged in 1.00 so all current translations can be used.

Try to perform the same operation in the property dialog (Alt+Enter) and report.

 Ops, sorry for the late answer, I have missed you suggestion with the change of page in this topic.

With alt+enter it work like with your plugin summary. Viewing the field comments in properties (ALT+ENETER) Is showed correctly, the field is empty completely. The problem happens when I view with mmedia plugin.
* I have tested the same operation in a different PC (same OS, TC version, etc.) and work fine, even with mmedia. I think that the problem is in the other PC.
I can read English, but... I write like Tarzan. (sorry)

If i try to use Summary 1.0 beta3 to set the Title or any other attribute of a .doc or a .htm file I get this error:
---------------------------
Total Commander
---------------------------
Access violation at address 0105167B. Read of address 00000000.
Please report this error to the Author,
with a description of what you were doing when this error occured!
Continue execution?
---------------------------
Ja Nej
---------------------------
It seems that it has worked for me before, but I tried with TC versions all the way back to TC7alpha12 without any luck.

I cannot reproduce this here. I guess you have to report it in a reproducable way.

The same error that petermad, but only when I apply the properties to an file type not supported, with a zip file for example.

It is pretty straight forward:

1. Start TC 7.01 with a new ini file
2. Doubleclick the wdx_summary_1.00_beta_3.zip installation file and install it (in c:\Totalcmd\plugins\wdx\Summary).
3. Highlight a .doc (MSWord) file on a NTFS partition.
4. Open the "Change attribute" dialog.
5. Click the "More attributes" button.
6. Pick "Summary" as plugin and "Title" as property and write something in the value field.
7. Click the OK button - the Access Violation occur.

Also if I have a custom column with for example a field with [=summary.Titel] then I get this error:
---------------------------
error
---------------------------
Crash in plugin Summary.wdx:

Access violation at address 0120167B. Read of address 00000000
---------------------------
OK Annuller
---------------------------
Testet under Win XP SP2 with full administrator rights.

If I switch to Summary 1.0 beta2 everythng works OK! - so that's why I have had it working previously.

I followed your steps and still cannot reproduce the problem.

BTW: DOC files attributes can also be written on FAT volumes as they are not stored in NTFS streams but inside the file.

Have you tried to do it in the ROOT of the drive - that seems to be the critical point - I have now just tested in a subdir - no problems there.

Yes, I noticed that now.

This problem has already been reported
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=120676#120676

I guess I should have released an updated version in the meanwhile.

Right - i didn't notice, because this was only about reading with summary. But as you can see it also applies to setting attributes in the root of a drive - even if Custom column view is not active - this is new.

ZIP files are supported.
Even for fields like album, artist, etc.?

In my case, I did select a group of mp3 files and... by error an zip file too. Then the previous error happened.
With only mp3 files the plugin worked fine for me.

Yes the problem was in a function which is called in both read and write part of the plug-in.
