There was a topic about this, but the question was too generic and it degenereated into german stuff few of us understand...
Anyways, I got myself this MS powered Smartphone called Qtek 7070, which is the exact same as the Orange SPV e100 and there are some other clones out there based on the same platform from MS. These phones almost never ship with any file managers but it's a much needed feature.
Most phones also can run unsigned software, even the Orange ones which are locked can be easily unlocked by following instructions on Orange's own web sites.
I would really like to see a port of TC for the MS smartphones, it probably already works, but with the limited input from the smartphone, it's probably useless. The phones have a 4-way joystick which can be pressed (action-key) and 2 softkeys, the left bottom side and right bottom side of the screen, so like most handhelds it's a unique UI...
Anyways, here is some more info:

http://www.infosync.no/news/2002/n/3792.html Review of the SPV e100.
For commercial apps, the 500$ code signing procedure is described here:

Development stuff:

Hope any of this helps...
I would be happy to be a beta tester if needed.
TC for Smartphones like Orange SPV, Qtek 7070...

Well then, let's keep it in English.ToxicX wrote:There was a topic about this, but the question was too generic and it degenereated into german stuff few of us understand...
Can I start out by saying what a rude way to say thank you for free software. We're not all half illiterates only capable of one language you know! *blowing steam*

First of all, you certainly didn't do yourself the favor of trying to search much on the forum, or you'd have run into this post which already mentions how to unlock the SPV, and this thread which is more than half in english and the rest should be understandable even to chinese who never saw german before.
Pocket Total Commader runs perfectly fine on MS powered smartphones according to all reports. I'm quite sure Mr. Ghisler would be open to suggestions - althou I'm not sure calling his native language 'degenerate' will generate much goodwill. I might be able to help you further, but I won't. Have a nice day.

Jeez, sorry, let me quote Ddriver with a babelfish translation:
I'm not sure what that means, but I hope it means: I did something wrong...
I'm sorry if I offended you AlleyKat, but I don't share your opinion about the usefulness of Babelfish. I checked the only thread yesterday, the same you linked to and it didn't have anything positive to day about running TC on MS Smartphones, check next paragraph for details.
Thanks about the link about unlocking SPVs, I forgot to include something similar to that among my list of links, but as I wrote
I would personally buy a MS Smartphone port of pocketTC for 5-10$ and even more if the lister could display images, music, videos using the built-in WinMediaPlayer, but from the only report I could find, it looks like it's just barely working with wrong keys...
But if it does work as expected, it would be the only freeware file manager on the smartphone, which isn't known to any Smartphone website I've seen. That's definatly news worth posting for these fansites and would bring extra attention to TC.
I probably built muck there

Babelfish says this about TC on SPVe100 from Ddriver at http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=27runs perfectly fine on MS powered smartphones according to all reports
and a message aboutSPV E100 installed and unfortunately function it not completely as wished
That is the only report I found, and it looked negative, so I posted some informative links, sorry if I pissed you off, but I don't see the problem. I don't speak german and Babelfish sucks, if these facts make you angry, there's nothing I can do about it..."program cannot be deleted"

but I forgot to mention that it's already unlocked from the factory.I got myself this ... Qtek 7070

Porting to the Smartphone wouldn't be too difficult. I already have the SDK. The only thing which has kept me from porting TC/CE so far is the signing thing. I don't think that it's such a good idea to disable this, because of the possible virus/worm problems. On the other side, it's very expensive to get the very high signing fees back - I don't think that anyone would pay for such a small tool...

My phone actually shipped unlocked, like all other Qtek phones here in Sweden. It's true that most phones like the Orange SPV ship locked down, but it's more of an abused feature by the networks to avoid huge support costs. Symbian OS also has signing support, but unlike MS, you still can install your freeware/shareware after pressing OK when the warning shows up.
How about trying the middleway, releasing a donateware version that's free and works with unlocked phones, those that like it can donate 5-10€/$ to get enough funds for the 500$ signing fee...

Hey, that's a clever idea! As an additional bonus, I could make available the signed version a few months earlier to those who donate.
