[BUG] when closing folder tabs in dead FTP connection
Way to reproduce this bug
ONLY do this with a file that you don't mind loosing from the FTP server - it might be replaced with a 0-byte file!
1. Open the same FTP site in both panels, the site must not support remote copying.
2. Open a new folder tab in the left panel (assumng that tabs are not shown when only one tab is present).
3. Go to the right file panel and start copying a file from right to left.
4. Choose "Overwite" when TC informs you that the file already exists.
5. Look for a little while at the "STOR" dialog and press Cancel (BTW this Cancel has a C-shortcut which should be removed).
6. Press the OK button in the "Remote Copy" "Transfer aborted" dialog.
7. Look for a little while at the "TYPE A" dialog and press Cancel.
8. Look for a little while at the "PASV" dialog and press Cancel.
9. Now you have an empty file panel in the left side that has two tabs.
10. Middle click the folder tab that is in the foreground (to close it) - middle click the remaining folder tab - VOILA a new tab appears in stead of the old one dissapearing! Keep middle clicking - more tabs pops up!
This has to be done rather fluently - otherwise the bug doesn't necessarily occur.

This is NOT a TC bug. TC just tells one server to send the file and the other to receive it, and the servers try to do what you order them. The target server opens the target file for writing, but since no data comes in, it cannot write the data to the file...

You understood petermad wrong.
His red warning was intended to warn the users about that possible side-effects of testing the bug are removing files, so it should not be tested on important data.
The contents of his bug-report is just excessive folder tabs that appear when they should not appear.

So what is the bug? The empty file panel? It happens because the connection is hanging on the PASV command...

The bug is that if you try to close the folder tab (with the empty file panel) by middle clicking it, you open a new tab instead - as stated in 10. in my bug report.

A new tab is usually created when TC cannot change directory in the clicked tab. TC must be "thinking" that this is the case here too. I'm sorry but this case is so special that I will not try to fix it, it would take many hours just to reproduce it...
