%Commander_Drive% NOT WORKING IN TAB FILE
Hi,
when making a tab file using the variable %Commander_Drive%, the tabs which contain this variable are not working. Same result when using the variable in the ini file for start up tabs.
IMHO it is important to fix this issue, since it is vital to have the %Commander_Drive% variable working in start up tabs so that TC can be efficiently used from a USB Drive, where TC may reside buried in a subdir and the tabs need to reference a totally different directory branch.
Kind regards,
Brahman

May I add that %COMMANDER_PATH% is not working in .tab files either.

Indeed environment variables aren't currently supported in Tab files. I could add it easily, but the variables would be lost when the tabs are saved. Would it still be useful under that condition?

On my home PC I don't need this, but on my USB stick I'd very much like to have %COMMANDER_PATH% supported in tabs. Since there I keep my wincmd.ini and my .tab files read-only, I don't have a problem with losing the environment variables on save :)ghisler(Author) wrote:the variables would be lost when the tabs are saved. By all means it would be useful:
I work with tabs and default tabs upon opening a lot. When TC starts, I have 8 or 9 tabs open.
For my wincmd.ini used in an USB environment I wanted to add variables as part of the startup tab paths, but it was not possible and this diminished the usefullness of tabs in a portable environment a lot.
There is no need for an option to switch it on or off if you add variables in tabs, since this feature (as with almost all commander path variables!) is mainly applied when you manually edit the ini or tab files to be used for special situations.
Variable paths are highly valuable in special environments like USB sticks. So why not unlock the full potential of these variables by enabling (or rather adding) it to TC?
I would be very happy to see it in one of the next maintenance releases
.
Best regards and congratulations to such a fine program (my most used program of all):
