TC freez when drag file over Windows Quick Launch toolbar

Post by *ts4242 »

Sometimes i drag a file from TC to an Application button in the taskbar but if on my way i moved over Quick Launch toolbar expanded arrow, the hidden quick launch icons are popup and TC remain freez until i remove this popup menu

BTW: dragging a file from Windows Explorer to Quick Launch toolbar expanded arrow dosn't popup the hidden icons

I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce this problem. What programs are showing these popup menus?

To reproduce:
1- reduce the width of Quick Launch toolbar until the expand arrow appears
2- drag a file to expand arrow and wait a moment until the hidden icons popup

now TC freez and you cannot drop the file anywhere outside or inside TC

BTW: this proplem not exist in Win ME because the hidden icons menu doesn't popup when move over Quick Launch expand arrow

Related to this problem, if you drag file over Quick Launch toolbar, TC will execute the first shortcut you move over it without dropping the file!

I cannot make the hidden icons pop up - not when dragging from TC nor from Explorer for that matter. (Win XP SP2)

Do you have some Quick Launch Bar enhancing program running?
TC will execute the first shortcut you move over it without dropping the file!
I cannot reproduce that either.

After more investigating i discoverd that, the problem occurs only when "Lock the Taskbar" option is activated (right click the taskbar and activate it if it is not)
So please lock the taskbar and try again.

LOL, after many tries (from my side and others) to convince the author that there's a BUG in TC when dragging over quick launch items that automatically launches apps without releasing the mouse button, finally the mystery is solved.

PS: I understand that win2k has no locking option, but in XP not locking the taskbar is just awfully looking.
TC for Linux please!

I already did - I always have my taskbar locked (looks better, takes up less space). There must be some other setting required for the bug to happen. Are you running with Classic or XP theme?

i'm using the default blue theme and i'm not using any Quick Launch Bar enhancing program.

after another investigating I discovered that, you must not move over any background window before you reach to the Quick launch. So be sure TC is maxmized or at least move TC window down until taskbar hide the bottom edge of TC window

That did it :!: I usually never have my TC maximized - But after maximizing TC I can confirm both bugs!

Maximizing TC indeed showed an effect - TC will launch the program to which you point on the quick launch bar. I had no hangs with this on Windows 2000, so it may be an XP problem. I will remove the simulated click in the next maintenance release of TC, it's an old remainder from 16-bit TC anyway...
