[BUG] Overlay icons for junctions are still not shown...

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[BUG] Overlay icons for junctions are still not shown...

Post by *icfu »

...in normal view in the file panels, instead TC displays the internal link icon.

All trees show the overlay correctly:

Sorry, I cannot help you. TC just requests the overlays from the system. Some overlay extensions may not work with other programs than the Explorer.

TC doesn't request the overlay from the system for directories in the filelist with the reparse point attribute. It just uses the internal icon.

Actually it does request it - maybe Windows returns a different icon with higher priority? I get a little arrow icon for reparse points...

For me it's icon 13 in totalcmd.exe. I wonder why Windows returns this icon...

Please look at the screenshot in my first posting!
In the separate tree it works but not in the normal panels.

Create a screenshot and post it please, as you seem to use a very special Total Commander version. Also I am intested to hear what extension you are using...

Strange, I use the same extension here, and it works perfectly also in file lists. Have you disabled EXE/LNK icons?

The display of hardlinks works fine (even with "only standard icons" set) showing the tiny yellow overlay.
Just the icon for folder junctions uses icon 13 instead of the tiny green overlay at file lists.

Have you created a junction or a hardlink? Screenshot?

Hardlink overlays work, junction overlays don't! This has been confirmed in this thread and by everyone else I asked besides by you.

Sorry, what is the difference? One pointing to a file and one to a directory?

Congratulations!

Have you checked with XP?
Have you checked my screenshot?
Can you do a screenshot? I have asked several times now.
Why can all people confirm the bug besides you?

If you have an idea how to proceed, tell me.

Sorry, I have tested this on Windows 2000 only. Maybe it's an XP bug. There is a hierarchy of overlay icons since only one overlay icon can be shown, so maybe XP is returning a higher priority empty overlay icon in this case...

@Windows 2000 users:
Can anyone confirm that it works flawlessly under Windows 2000?
Please post a screenshot, thanks...
