File search bug report.

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

File search bug report.

Post by *haibinpro »

I have two files in one folder:
(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab.dwg
and
33.d.dwg

Is't bug that I use Alt+F7 and keyword "33.d.dwg" could find the file,but use keyword "33.d" or "(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab.dwg" or "(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab" find nothing.

System:Win XP SP2
TC:7 Series

Use "33.d*" and "(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab*" in stead.

"(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab.dwg" works fine if you remember to include the quotation marks.

It is only a feature that you don't have to write the * when searching for strings without periods - why you have to "remember" the * when there is a period is somewhat inconsistant (but hardly a bug).

"(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab.dwg"、"(2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab*"、"33.d*" 、33.d* Works,and (2005) Ford F-250 S.D 4WD Crew Cab* Not Work.
I don't understand the word "periods",is it mean the dot(.)?Is it right that if the file content two more dot, use the quotation marks "" should be OK.

Periods means dots.

Quotation marks "" should only be necessary when there are spaces in the filename.

IMHO the best thing to do is to avoid dots and spaces in file names - but I grew up with DOS, so that's easy for me to say ;-)

Hi All !
I'm having trouble with search feature from 7.02a :

From search menu,
*.wsf as filename
As text string to search "installkb"
The network folder where i'm doing the search has a name starting with !
ex :c:\!samples\...

So total commander returns no file found.
I'm doing the same with search feature from ultraedit. The results : 312 time found "installkb" in 33 files.
This is not the first time that this version fails to find files that are located in the folder. Is anyone experiencing the same behaviour ?
Is there a fix under developpment ?

Try and check the Unicode or UTF8 box before searching.
