crawling network copy with TC

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

crawling network copy with TC

Post by *sun »

hi, i'll make this short :)

setup :
- TC702a, pc A : vista 64, pc B : vista 32
- network card A is Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter (2.2.6000.0 driver)
- network card B is Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller (10.22.7.3 driver)

sitting at pc A, file size 1gB, (the HD used are the same for all the test)
- using TC default copy method, copying file over the network :
+ from A to B : ~60 MB/s
+ from B to A : ~6 MB/s
- using TC "also use big file copy mode"
+ from A to B : ~61 MB/s
+ from B to A : ~8 MB/s
- using TC "copy+paste via explorer" method
+ from A to B : ~60 MB/s
+ from B to A : ~40 MB/s

i also notice this slowdown with bunch of smaller files, so it's not related to the file size per see, i've used a 1gB file to get a constant throughput check.

at first i thought there was an "incompability" btw my network cards but after seeing the explorer copy throughput i believe there is something fishy with TC, what do you think ?

You may use the "Compatibility mode" activated for network drives (under Configuration - Options - Copy/Delete).

Just enter a single backslash "\" as driveletter (without the doublequotes).
