Icons refreshing on Novell network drive

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Icons refreshing on Novell network drive

Post by *bviksoe »

Having icon settings on Icons -> "All Associated + EXE..." will cause TC to repeat refreshing the filelist all the time on a Novell network drive.

Windows Vista + TC 7.02a + Novell.
CPU goes 20% and icons in filelist flashes repeatedly as if the filelist is getting refreshed all the time.

Workaround: Change settings back to Icons -> "All"

Novell is strange. The network drives disappear when I launch under the priviledged account, so it may be an error code that TC misses and somehow keeps retrying to get the icons.

Strange, I do not have this problem with my Netware test installations. Do you use any of the advanced refresh options in the configuration dialog (auto-refresh when anything changes)?

No. No special refresh options.

I ran the SysInternals filemon utility to see the disc access. Apparently no indication of lowlevel errors. The .htm file flashes in the filelist, which also contains a couple of regular folder icons.

Code: Select all

Really strange indeed. Do you still get the problem when you turn off icons in configuration - options - icons?
