Overwriting into Rar archive without warning!

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Overwriting into Rar archive without warning!

Post by *eugensyl »

I think it'a a bug:
LEFT: inside a RAR archive with file1.ext, file2.ext, file3.ext, ...
RIGHT: file2.ext

Copy file2 into RAR with F5, in fact a compress action.

After first dialog box, file2.ext from RIGHT will overwrite file2.ext from inside of archive (LEFT), without any warning message.

Maybe, a check box with 'Overwrite automatically same/newest file' can be useful.

Confirmed.

Imho it is WinRAR error too. I've got 3.51 version here. When I open two archives with same files and drag'n'drop the content between them, there is no waning message. Only packing properties window is shown but without "allow overwrite" type question.

In fact TC leaves it up to the external packer to show a warning or not. Other packers like ACE do ask whether the user wants to overwrite a file, or all files.
