Why not use the virtual folder file system plugin? It even DOES allow to go down folders shown there! Supporting virtuavirtual folders which just hold files and folders which cannot be browsed would be very easy, but quite useless. In fact, the Search - feed to listbox function does just that.

There is no plug-in called "virtual folder" on your homepage or on totalcmd.net.

Maybe it's the secret update to the "TempPanel" plugin which had been promised some years ago?

Hi Christian

Search results "fed" to the listbox do not persist between TC sessions. Also, you can't add files to the list subsequent to the "feeding".

In my experience, the various "temp" plugins have behaviorial inconsistences... a problem renaming subfolders comes immediately to mind, %P isn't mapped properly, etc.

Persistent (between TC sessions) search results in named tabs would be a start, but wouldn't be sufficient. One needs total freedom to populate, navigate, and manipulate (execute, etc.) the files in the list.

I'm sure many forum members have different ideas about how to use the functionality of "virtual" folders and a consensus design implemented into TC would be extraordinarily useful. A plugin approach to implementation would be OK, though I personally would like to see the virtual folders in the folder tree, which precludes a plugin (I as understand it).

Best regards.

I mean the TempPanel plugin. I cannot find that specific version online, so I have put it here:

Thank you for porting this version, I wasn't aware that this update existed, I was stuck at version 1.0 10-10-2003 which includes a readme file - the file you uploaded doesn't.
I find the virtual panel very useful to gather in one place all the things I need for a job. xplorer2 calls them scrap panes and makes extensive use of multiple scrap panes. I like that. And it returns search results in a scrap pane I think. UltraExplorer also has an intuitive (single) virtual panel. I wish TC supported multiple temp panels natively, not as a plugin. I tried running two instances of TC each with a temp panel open, but of course they're the same panel - the same tpl file - so each instance sees the same files.
I also use TC temp panels to sync "packages" between various machines (for which I do a little bit of manual editing the root folder prefix in the tpl file). I also would like to be able to sync panels side by side, much like one can do now with folder synchronization.

The update is useless according to my test.

Although there is a setting now to disable the annoying "delete link or physical file", this one is NOT remembered and does NOT work.
The setting "Goto file on return" still has no effect too, besides showing the egg timer.

"NOT"... But it always ask what should be deleted: link or file. And it works.

How to check it? Where I have to press "Return"? "Return" means "Enter" or what?
Added: not all columns of wdx plugins works in this TempPanel.

Yep, just like in the version before: There is no difference, you see?
How to check it?
Call the plugin preferences – Alt+Enter on TempPanel entry in network neighborhood – switch the setting and press Enter on a file.

Yep, version before this plugin wasn't interesting for me :)
Call the plugin preferences – Alt+Enter on TempPanel entry in network neighborhood – switch the setting and press Enter on a file.
Executing works, "Goto file" - not. However, there are no any egg timers!

Please, note: there is a TEMPRORARY PANEL plugin v. 1.0.0.82 inside this archive. And it is last updated in November 2005 (more than 2 years ago!).

Is this the latest TP build?
