Disabling the preview (Ctrl+Q)

Post by *bdk »

Hi

I use the Ctrl+Q feature quite a lot. It is very powerful and convenient. But there is one thing that bothers me quite a bit. When I use Ctrl+Q to preview a file or a directory (using a plug-in), I often forget to toggle of the preview when navigating to another directory. This causes TC to freeze for a moment to generate the preview of the new directory location. This can be quite time consuming and annoying. I realize that this is totally my fault for not toggling of the preview before changing directory location. What I wish for is a config option that, when chosen, will automatically disable the preview when doing directory change. When browsing files in the same directory, the preview should of course still be active. I guess this would be very easy to implement. Any thoughts on this idea?

You might find Lefteous' lister plugin NoDirQuickView useful, at least as workaround:
NoDirQuickView doesn't show directory information to not delay quick view. The plug-in doesn't effect quickview of files.
Other lister plugins, which are designed for a quickview on directories (like DirInfo.wlx or VisualDirSize.wlx), can be activated as usual by pressing <4> in the quickview pane.

Thanks for the tip. It works like a charm. :D
It solves my problem almost perfectly. I can live with having to press Ctrl+Q instead of TC doing it for me automatically. The major point was to get rid of the lag when TC scans directories. And just when I thought TC couldn't get any better :-)
