Lister, highligth all occurrences of a pattern

Post by *membrillo »

From my point of view it would be useful to highlight each occurrence of a certain pattern in the current window. And if it could be a colour instead of bw even better. This way you can see all occurrences at glance.

It could be an enhancement to search function (a checkbox saying highlight all occurrences).

Lime-green and lime-yellow by default please, like in Opera, Firefox and my avatar.

Without the eyes though, please :)

I second the request, it would be a very useful feature.

I should say the lister itself is as valuable to me as the whole of TC. Even more in a way, because some operations can be done in Windows Explorer, but there is no built-in viewer in Windows. There are commercial viewers, and they're all awful, every single one of them (that I've seen), because they embed the associated applications as activex controls. If you have, for example, a broken XML file which IE will not display, those (expensive) viewers won't display it, either. How silly is that?

It's crazy but true: on a clean Windows installation there is no way to view file contents on disk without intermediation of some specialized application. You can make do with Notepad in a pinch, but not for binary files. TC's lister helps me many, many times every day.

This is also why some improvements, like highlighting all matches, would be very nice to see!
