[Sugg] Add separator to Drive bar and drive selection list

Post by *fenix_productions »

Hi.

Would it be possible to add separators to drive selection list (Alt+F1/F2) or drives button bar?

The current solution gives a little thrills when you've got to choose specific hard drive. For backup purposes it is nice to know, on which drive partition is placed. It is not the mother of live and death but can give less effort to gain that knowledge.

Proposed solution is to store values to be groupped in additional INI parameter:

GroupPartitions=CD,EFG,XY

where the period indicates the separation.

The other way is just to use "SamePartitions" parameter.

FAKE SCREENS
- drive bars (normal and flat)
- drive selection list
- drive selection list - only if the list items can have different sizes,

I always label my logical drives in a way that I can see which physical Disk they belong to, sth. like hd0_system, hd0_data, hd1_whatever and so on. I get along well with this kinda workaround.

But as an option, I'm not against it, although I'm not yet sure if I would actually use it.

I don't have Linux habits to use this kind of namings. After all there are pen-drives issues covered by this too.

The last thing: why should we stick to workarounds if there could be proper implementation to avoid them?

Optional, of course...

I'm not that much into Linux too, the above was just an example, one could name the drives also simply disk1_system, or whatever. This is indeed a workaround, but I've gotten used to it over the years.

As I said, I'm not against this feature, it is a nice idea. If it was available, I would give it a try for sure, maybe I would even get used to it :-)

Yes, I concur - useful visually. Not important, but I'd be very happy about it.
