Hi, TMX.

No relation to hell. This is just one more inofficial TotalCommander distribution: it is TotalCommander (2MB) plus a ton of different plugins (76 MB) currently.

I am not quite sure whether the TCUP distribution is legal, i.e whether they have Christian Ghisler's consent, or whether it is not.

I guess it is up to everybody to decide for themselves
+ whether they wish to download and install such a compilation or
+ whether they get TotalCommander from the official site only and download and install only those plugins which they really need.

So here is the answer to the question: Total Commander Ultima Prime - What is it?
(Does not really confirm that Christian gave his consent. Maybe he did. But there is no statement made by him in this thread. And I cannot be bothered to go on searching all threads looking for "TCUP", "Total Commander Ultima Prime" and all possible variations of these two spellings. )

It would be strange for Ultima not to contact with Christian about it because I know that every plugins (or applications) authors have been asked for agreement to include their work into package.

BTW You can always send a secret spy message to Ghisler and see what will happen

I'm not sure TC Ultima Prime is a TC distribution !

It is more a complete File/System management distro centered around Total Commander :

TC represent 2Mo
TC plugin and tools 50Mo

Additional freeware tools 150Mo (Multimedia player, Editor, IM, .... this part is not respecting language setting) and is the MAIN part of the Distro.

As all is accessible using TC menu, links and user-cmd definition can be used as good sample to build it's own TC setting !

Yes, I have been contacted by them. I have given my consent because there are people who prefer such an 'all in one' package instead of installing just the plugins they need (what I recommend). There are some not so legal (mostly Russian) package distributions, so I think that it's a good idea to give people a legal alternative if they really want such a distribution.

Of course the makers of TC UltimaPrime have to follow the rules to not include any cracked/stolen tools in the package, and remove programs where the author doesn't agree with the packaging.

As Christian wrote, if any plugin's author has something against using his work in TC UP, he should contact with me and I will remove it from the project.
I had sent e-mails for any contained application developer and I've gained agreement from them. I did the same for all plugins' authors too. Unfortunately, not all of them replied. The list below contains the names of plugins included into project.

If you are the author and you don't want to use your work, please inform me about it.

The viewer for TC UP(which works with TC as well ) ? Once TxQuickView is added this is a good alternative !

The concern of the previous post is to point that you should also describe your tools (specially the lister and the TCUPIntegrator) in the official Total commander forum and not ask yourself for distribution agreement...

About the lister, some feature are missing (like auto tC ini sync) but this is a wonderful file lister with my favorite "chose your plugin!" feature !

Please, be aware that post above has been written not for advertisement but for legality purposes. I care about it the most.
Some authors might not remember about agreement. The others might not know because they haven't received my e-mails. I am always trying to rich copyrights owner (even for open sourced stuff) but sometimes I've had to decide what to do with free tools from people who seems to not exist.
