thank you both for suggestions for the workaround.

i'm aware to the workarounds. there is always a way to have workarounds. what i (intended to) asked, was (if there is and interest or an easy way) to implement that feature in an easy way (for the user)

right-click->sort. simple and plain. not more :-)

its not about workarounds, its about not to change programs or points of views while in a working progress.

i'm not using this program often, but if i use it, i always have to close and reopen it, because it cannot do such (for me mandatory for an so called *editor*) things as i submitted in my posts before.

its a good thing to have this tool anyway. the build in editor of tc really is a pain compared to this peace of software :-)

striping of spaces: make it optional

Post by *versalzen »

hi,
i forgot my xmas wish :-)
here it comes:

as i'm "layouting" my directory-menu with leading spaces, i found out, that your editor strip all leading spaces from the menu-names.

which result from:

Code: Select all

test
   foo
   bar
ultra editors
 Start and Directory Menu Editor
 History Editor
to:

Code: Select all

test
foo
bar
ultra editors
Start and Directory Menu Editor
History Editor
whis is bad (for me at least), because i personally need spaces to have a better overview on the menus.

but i do like the idea of stripping (unused) spaces, so i would ask you, if you could make this optional (for the user to choose in the configuration of your fine program)

New command "Sort Selected Menu" added to Edit menu.
Would it be possible that the sort algorithm disregarded the &'s from accellerator hotkeys. As it is now all items that start with an & is sorted before other items. This applies both to the "Main Menu Editor" and the "Start and Directory Menu Editor".

Great :!: :-)

Now that we are at it - would it also be possible to make a function that checks for conflicting accellerator hotkeys, and possibly shows free unused letters if there is a conflict :?:

Great addition - thank you!

One suggestion - if there is NO unused mnemonics left then the line: "The following mnemonics are not used:" should not be showed.

Bug report:

If I immediately after opening a .mnu file in "Main Menu Editor" press Ctrl+R, then the 1st item "Total Commander Main Menu" is opened for editing.

If I edit this item then the menu gets disrupted. The first POPUP line gets the same content as the just edited item, and the first END_POPUP line is deleted!

In this case a user could think the program is wrong and he will check for available mnemonic himself

before releasing i was think about using string 3067 so the message will looks like "The following mnemonics are not used: (none)" but i didn't do it because using 3067 string in this context could not be correct for all language

Thanks for the bug report, I will fix it!

The string:
3326=Highlight items does not &contain mnemonic.
should be changed to one of the following:

3326=Highlight items that does not &contain a mnemonic.
3326=Highlight items that does not &contain mnemonics.
3326=Highlight items not &containing a mnemonic.
3326=Highlight items not &containing mnemonics.

I prefer the last one.

Thanks for correction! I prefer the first one.
I think mnemonic word should be singular because any item should not contain more than one mnemonic
