F7. Create folder with last space dont move cursor to it

If I create folder with last space(s) "Folder ", Total (or windows?) create folder without last space "Folder", but cursor don't move to new folder "Folder" and stay on currend place.

Confirmed. TC creates the folder without the space at the end but it does not move the cursor on it. Nice one Motorocker.

P.S. This is actually a bug so it should probably be moved in the appropriate forum.

Actually it's Windows itself which removes the space at the end. Total Commander knows nothing about this change, and tries to focus the name WITH the space...

Hmmm... Ok, maybe there's a small amount of risk here because it's something MS may decide to change in the future but wouldn't it be better (since this is already how it's done by Windows) if TC trimmed trailing spaces before creating the folder and positioning the cursor to it?

The space at the end is actually allowed on some drives, e.g. Samba (Unix/Linux)...

Hmmm, how about the following then: Create the folder with the name as is and then try to place the cursor on it and if not found, try to place it on the same folder name with trimmed end-spaces. An alternative would probably be to remain as is.

This problem was "fixed", but not completely . The problem still exists in MRT, and Mr Ghisler is not going to fix it, maybe because the process of renaming will be slower.

• Despite I don't see which need you have to add a space at the end of a folder-name,
what about the use of a nonbreaking space #160 (Alt+0160 - HTML : & # 160; without spaces )
instead of the usual space from the keyboard that Windows removes ?

• I tested (again) such a solution, it works, example with a file inside :

Well, for most users it will probably be done by mistake (at least that's true in my case). Seeing that the cursor is not positioned on the right folder leads one to think it is a bug. For me it's not that important anyway...

Press Ctrl+Enter and copy this line. Total add ending space.

Shift+Enter will open the folder ...
Do you mean Ctrl-Enter ? (add to commandline)

This is by design, to allow adding multiple entries in sequence without switching to commandline for adding a separator.

I copy full string with ending spaces.
Now I must everytime delete this ending space or search new folder without spaces.
