Confirmed -
although "not working" seems to be more "not implemented".

Usage example for testing both cases:

• - use Ctrl+B branch view to select files from different dirs
  - use [YMD]_[N] as rename template

You cannot sort by "new name", you can't even click on its column! Why? The reason is that in some cases, e.g. when using a counter [C], the sort order depends on the location of the file in the list. Therefore it's not always possible to sort by new name because the field contents depend on the position.
