Board Layout
A number of forums that use the same software as this one (phpBB) have a "mobile" board style option in their user profile dialogues. I wonder if the option could be made available here for those of us who log in with PDAs.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't know where this is available. Do you have any idea how the style is named (just "mobile"?), or where it could be found?

It's called "subMobile". One example is at http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/forum, and there's another in the Mozilla forum, http://forums.mozillazine.org, but you have to be registered and logged in to see the selection dialogue. I don't know how the style can be acquired or installed, however, as I don't run a forum myself.ghisler(Author) wrote:Sounds like a good idea, but I don't know where this is available. Please note that if the user's mobile browser has been configured to report a desktop PC user agent (e.g. IE 6.0) instead of a mobile one, the server may just give him the desktop layout instead. I often surf as IE 6.0 instead of PIE, to avoid loss of content on Google, and switch back if I'm using a "mobile-friendly" site.

Thanks, I will try to find the theme. I tried the pocketpcfreeware forum with my X51v, it really works well.

It looks a lot like Google Mobile.ghisler(Author) wrote:Thanks, I will try to find the theme. I tried the pocketpcfreeware forum with my X51v, it really works well.
I'm using ReenSoft's PIEPlus for browsing. It's actually not a browser, but a plugin for Pocket Internet Explorer, and one of the many functions it adds is the ability to quickly switch user agents.
Right now the web sites think I'm using IE 6.0. Unfortunately, their JavaScript doesn't always work on this device, regardless of the user agent setting.

I just wrote the above test post from my x51v after installing the theme "subSilver_mobile". You cannot choose this theme, it is used automatically when the user agents matches the following regular expression:
/(up-browser)|(blackberry)|(windows ce)|symbian|palm|nokia/i
I found this theme here:

Comments are of course welcome.
