File-Compare, Editmode: Backup destroys NTFS File-Hardlinks

I'm sorry, backup files are absolutely necessary (at least for files >1 MB), because the file is mapped into memory. Only the changes made by the user are stored in separate buffers.

Yes, this could be done. I will postpone this until after the TC7.0 final release though, I still don't trust my self-written text editor 100% yet...

Until the backup files can be deleted by TC, you can find an AHK workaround in this thread:

The next version will delete .bak files from the TEM\_tc folder when the main file is deleted (e.g. when re-packing or re-uploading). However, normal .bak files will not be deleted for now.
