WinCE plugin freezes on long copy operations

I am a TC user since late 90's. I have licensed version #83805. Recently I have installed the WinCE plugin. The problem I have is, it freezes while copying big files from the PC to my smart phone. For example, an MP3 album. If I copy the files one by one and pause a few seconds between files, it works ok. But if I copy an entire directory eventually it freezes around 10 MB (usually the 2nd or 3rd file). I have to unplug the device and reconnect to resume. When I do the same operation using Windows Explorer, all works ok.

TC version is 7.02.
My PC runs Windows XP Pro, SP2.
I use ActiveSync 4.5.0 (Build 5096) over USB.
My USB device is a HTC smart phone running Windows CE 5.01 (I believe it has USB 1.0). The transfer speed is around 170KB/s.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this problem here with my devices, I just tried to copy 15 MB of mp3s to it without problems.

Do you copy them to internal memory, or an external (micro-)SD-Card? If to a card, I would recommend that you buy a cheap USB SD-Card reader. It's 100 times faster than via ActiveSync.
