MRT create directories

Post by *_meta_ »

One of most missed features in MRT (at least for me) is ability to create directories when doing rename. Great for sorting out files by whichever criteria i choose.
The question I have is why does it not work? Rename operation is the same as move operation. When I do F6 I can put nonexistent directory in destination field and directory will be created. But in MRT no. Could MRT use the same algorithm for renaming as F6 operation. That should be rather easy to implement (and if there are some issues, put that as an selectable option: use move operation for renaming)

It was requested long time ago.

Yes, I know it was requested, and now I am asking Christian is it possible to implement it the way I have stated (using move operation - which can create directories).

Any info on this request? This should be easy to implement. If this behavior is by design, too add new switch should be rather easy to implement, as I see it.

I'm indeed considering it, although it will cause a lot of new problems...

It could issue a warning and ask for a confirmation if move should occure, to prevent accidental move of files by mistake.

Otherwise what new problems? 8)

I don't see any more problems than using F6. F6 asks for confirmation if any conflict arises, so why not use the same algorithm.
Maybe I am oversimplifying, but as I stated it can be made selectable, and then I will take responsibility if anything wrong happens. I can use shift+Del accidentally and it is my fault for that, and not the fault of the tool I have done it with.
