[Wish] Search results columns (panel like)

Post by *fenix_productions »

It would be nice to have the possibility to choose additional columns view for "Search results" listbox (both for Find window and filled panel).

In my opinion the results list could offer the behaviour similar to standard panel.

Additional functionality could be "different views (detailed, thumbnails, ...)".

What do you think about it?

You can have any custom columns view you wish in the panel after Feed to listbox, also the Thumbnail view.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I thought that providing this one inside Find window would be more efficient.

Maybe it would be better to requesting the possibility to set up default view / column mode after "Feed to listbox" action.

PS. At least saving the splitter position for this one could be nice ;)

Not quite a solution.
Feed to listbox seems to switch to its own view style. It could be modified as you write but that changes the default view for the panel/tab.
Also when edited the panel/tab doesn't look the same - implicit columns are Name and Ext but Search result displays only [=tc.path][=tc.fullname] - cannot be accomplished.

It would be nice if "Search result:" had its own Custom column configuration which would be switched on automatically when pressed "Feed to listbox" and switched off after a backspace or whatever way of escaping the Search result view.

In other words: big SUPPORT here.

I think that the search result list is totally useless due to redundancy and should be removed completely. Instead of that, the search results should be fed directly to the panels, like in any other professional file manager.

This implies virtual panels of course, which can be fed with any content the user wishes, be it search results (including archive content), temporary containers, etc...

Supporting two styles of search results, one hardcoded, one configurable, is a waste of time, a relict from the past.

I agree with the most of it. Temporary panel could be solution but fitting search results there should be optional (we both know about Ghisler's backward "compatibility" issue).

It might be really nice for most of the cases imho.

I don't know does TC support multiple monitors for "Find files" window. If yes then temp panels might be little less comfortable in such case. I've tried multiple views / desktops under Nvidia settings but even if search is in second desktop, main TC's window freezes... so simply: I don't know.

Agree. At least there should be a "goto" function to go from the virtual directory to the real one
(for cases I just want to find out where a file is located and then jump there).
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?
