[BUG] Quick search / move dialog down doesn't work...

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[BUG] Quick search / move dialog down doesn't work...

Post by *icfu »

16.04.08 Added: Quick search dialog: When the user selects files with Insert or Shift+Cursor up/down, move the quick search dialog down so the number of selected files can be seen (only if there is enough space on screen)
When the taskbar is on the right and TC is maximized, this doesn't work, the dialog won't move down. The quick search dialog overlaps the lower TC window border by 1 pixel, maybe that's the reason. Another reason might be that the calculation is done wrong and the window border isn't taken into account.

Well, it seems that you answer your own question:
only if there is enough space on screen
and
The quick search dialog overlaps the lower TC window border by 1 pixel
As I understand it, the quick search dialog is already at the bottom of the screen. Moving it further down would make it impossible to see the typed search string...

I have just tested it - if the command line or the function buttons are off, there is not enough space to see both the status bar and the quick search dialog (when TC is maximized), so it's not moved down.

My command line is ON and it's visible, including the text within, so there obviously IS enough space to display a quick search box at the same place as well.

If it doesn't fit, this can only mean that its border is too fat. Make it thinner and it will fit.

Confirmed. It looks rather ugly even with the taskbar at the bottom.
TC for Linux please!

Sorry, this behaviour is intentional and will not be changed. As I have described, when there isn't enough space to move the dialog box down, it will remain where it was.

Why don't you comment my proposal how you can solve the problem? Is it really too much expected to remove a pixel from the quicksearch box so its lower border doesn't overlap the TC window? This can't be true, really...

Unfortunately it's not that easy. The height of the search dialog is determined by the height of the font used for the file lists, which is also used for quick search...
