Several bugs in Vista Ultimate 64 with version 7.04a
Hello, I'm a long-time user of this software. I've recently switched to Vista 64 and I found some glitches in the latest Total Commander version.
First of all, there are files not showing in the list, although the option to show hidden and system files is on.
I've discovered that almost all .sys files inside the c:\windows\system32\drivers folder don't show up and they can't be found if you look for them from inside TC. But they are there and they are found if you use the standard Vista shell.
Another thing, there are some files (mp3 come to mind) which get constantly reset as far as their icon goes, so they always revert to a blank icon.
Lastly, when I right click on a drive's icon and choose properties, they are different from the ones I get if I do the same from the standard Vista shell. Namely, the Hardware tab is missing.
Are these known bugs, or is there something wrong with my TC configuration?

Well, Vista 64-bit is just fooling you.
See TC Wiki for details: Total Commander for Windows XP 64-bit which is related to Vista 64-bit too.

Ok, thanks. I've tried the x64DisableRedirection=1 fix and it works as far as showing files inside the system32 folder.
But using that fix makes it even worse for drive properties. If I right click a drive icon and choose properties now nothing happens. There's not any error message, but the window just doesn't come up.
And the icon problem is still there.

I just add the following to the dir. hotlistCooperdale wrote: I've discovered that almost all .sys files inside the c:\windows\system32\drivers folder don't show up and they can't be found if you look for them from inside TC. cd c:\windows\sysnative
cd c:\windows\sysnative\drivers

all icons are shown properly
mp3 on my system are associated with winamp
and the string for mp3 in Associate window is
MPEG Layer 3 Audio File ("d:\program Files (x86)\winamp\winamp.exe" "%1")
// wincmd.ini
IconOverlays=1
Showicons=2
ShowEXEandLNKicons=2

TC clears its internal icon cache when you change associations in TC itself. It then reloads the icons just as it loaded them initially. Did you change anything important else?
