percentage remaining for queued move/copy

Post by *eydaimon »

When I select multiple files, and use F2 to queue files, or just regular move/copy, I can only see the percentage copied etc for the file currently being copied.

That's not terribly useful. What's much more useful would be to see a percentage moved/copied of the *total* amount of files that will be copied.

In principle I support this (show the number of jobs in queue).

But, is it really useful to show a percentage of files in any case? :

1. Files could be of different size.

2. The BTM can handle different jobs (copy, move, download).
Each task need's different time, even for equal sized files (moving on same partition is fast, .. copy depends on medium, download is most of the time very slow)

3. The percentage of finished jobs will become smaller if you add files.
This percentage is relative to what? :
- Number of files added with one <F2> command?
- Number of files added since the BTM is used for the first time?
What if the BTM is started manually and reused several times a day? Should the number of files moved in the morning, influence the percentage calculation of the last download progress in the evening?
- Number of files added since the last time the BTM entered the (Ready)-state?

4. If you mark a folder and copy the folder <F5><F2> you will already see what you suggest (percentage progress of this single copy job).
Should the tree behind this folder expanded, and all files inside this tree taken into account to calculate a percentage file progress over all background jobs?

<ot> When I read the suggestion forum, or search for a suggestion that is already posted here, just for the reason to add(or subtract) my support, I find that several thoughts are already thought here in different threads:

That's not terrible useful, maybe these two should be merged together?</ot>

Kind regards,
Holger
