Problem: consistent and repeatable "delayed write errors"
for files bigger than 4.5MB, network copy.
Master System
Dell Dimension 4600 2.4GHZ 2GB RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32bit
Zonealarm Free V 7.1.254.000
Totalcommander 7.04a
Slave System
Dell Dimension 4550 2.0GHZ 1GB RAM
Windows XPSP2 32bit
Totalcommander 7.04a (same problem with 7.03)
Wired network connection thru westel 327W router.
From the console of the master system, I can transfer
files back and forth using totalcommander without error.
From the console of the slave system, totalcommander file transfers
with file size over about 4.5MB always show a
delayed write error and the destination file is corrupt.
Smaller files seem to work fine.
If I turn off zonealarm on the master system,
the problem goes away.
I've been blaming this on Zonealarm, but there's another twist.
With zonealarm turned on on the master system, if I use
windows explorer on the slave system to transfer files,
I do NOT get errors.
Further tests:
On the slave system, I open an explorer window pointing to
the master system. I highlight the source files on the slave
system in the totalcommander pane and drag them to the explorer destination
window. The files transfer without error.
I open an explorer window on the slave system pointing to the source
files on the slave system. Using totalcommander, I open a pane
pointing to the master system. I highlight files in the explorer
window and drag them to the totalcommander pane. I get delayed
write errors.
I've tried this with multiple slave systems with the same results.
If I run Windows XP on the master system, I do not get errors.
I've swapped hard drives and get the same results.
Using the vista firewall, I do not get write errors.
This looks like some kind of buffer problem or latency problem related to the combination of
totalcommander, zonealarm and vista.
I have no idea how to troubleshoot this further.

In short: You got problems with file copy over network.
Try to use the setting:
Configuration - Options - Operation - Copy/Delete :
Enable "Use compatibility mode for the following drives" and enter a backslash "\" as drive letter for network drives.
This fixes the write errors for my system so far.
