ExeInfo.wdx: Missing 2nd File/Product version support

Post by *sqa_wizard »

I am a regular user of your lister plugin FileInfo.
Extremely useful, to have a quick overview of all infos !
... running stable as a rock for years now ... chapeau !

I just started to use ExeInfo content plugin to have file version / product version infos sortable.
Works fine as well.

But have a look at Total Commander's CGLPTNT.SYS file.
A typical file where 2 different file/product versions are displayed

FileInfo says:

Code: Select all

    File Version Information :

    Version language : Englisch (USA)
          CompanyName : C. Ghisler & Co.
          FileDescription : Ghisler Parallel Driver
          FileVersion : 1.10
    ...
    ...
          ProductVersion : 4.50
    ...
    ...
     File/Product version : 1.10.0.0 / 4.50.0.0

No matter, all infos are correct !

My question:
How can I use the second file/product version at ExeInfo plugin ?

Is there any way to get this info yet, or is there a chance to get an update after years of silence ?

I don't think it's possible to get more info without rewriting the plugin.

BTW It is strange but standard Windows properties dialog (left side) shows no more info than this plugin (right):

I also think so. But this should be an easy addition.

IIRC this plugin doesn't just read Windows information. At least there was a wdx that used some library to read PE structure on it's own. :)

BTW, sqa_wizard, can I ask why is the text version not enough?

Probably:

BTW Newer version gives errors sometimes so it would be better to download "my" pack (older version with new signatures) from here:

I use it for sorting purpose (detecting outdated versions) and searching (detecting the best one to compare)
Mainly MS uses a file version (1st one) with appended text "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111)", while the product version (1st one) just has a short number "5.0"

The 2nd pair tends to be more reliable "5.0.0.3014" ...

2fenix_productions: Thank you for this special version.:)
Looks pretty interesting, showing a lot of additional info.

Just the 2nd file / product versions are still missing :(
