show audio waveform plugin

Post by *Blackout »

hi,

i was hoping someone could tell me if there has been a plugin for TC made that displays the waveform of the audio that the "quickview panel" is playing with its player when you click on a wave or mp3 file.

at present all you see in the Quickview panel when you select a mp3 file is the transport bar to search thru the audio file. i would like to see the wave form here visually and drag the cursor thru it. This seems like a really obvious improvement to TC plugin and i cant seem to find anything like this on the plugin pages which is really surprising to me.

This would make TCommander become the ultimate sample sorting tool! The idea being that you could visually look at the sample, and then choose what folder to drag-drop/copy the sample into with the TC interface! wow that would save sooo much time/ the closest thing that i know of like this is www.cdxtract.com but it is not really a file manager and is not ideal....

with thanks,
Blackout

WaveView plugin is the only one:
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/waveview.html

It is outdated and buggy but no one wrote anything close to it.

Read this thread before usage:

thank you very much fenix.

such a shame...buggy and unfinished. Would need

1:/ 24 bit support
2:/ auto play
3:/ "release of file" so the file can be moved (and not locked from moving).

this is so close to being useful. im amazed that there are so many other plugins for TC that are...um...useless but this obvious plugin has never been properly realised. surely it would increase sales of TC alone...

Cheers,
Blackout.

ive been thinking ....if i could find a wave editor program that would show and play a wave file that was instantly passed to it...is it possible to integrate it into TC...so that it loads that program up in TC in the quickbrowser area (yay!)...or would it just launch the wave editor in a separate window (boo). If this was possible then it would be almost the same as useing Waveview...then we just have to find some freeware wave editor that will do the job...of which there are many possibilities...

I do not know much about software programming but I have quite often dealt with wav files...

What about Audacity? ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ )

It is open source and there may be some parts of the code that could be used. However, the graphs generated by Audacity are not my favourite design. This is a connected project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity-extra/

Or this one: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sv1/

These may be of interest too:

and

and

Another possible tool is Aldo's WavEdit ( http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Aldos_WAVEdit/1015350850/1)

There may also be useful waveform visualisation plugins in the Steinberg VST format, like this one: http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=4
