TC 7 freeze on network copy/move

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC 7 freeze on network copy/move

Post by *psyafter »

Hi all
when I copy/move files from 1 comp to another in my network - sometimes TC freeze on finishing coping/moving file (100%), wait minute or two, and continue copy/move next file

I closed all firewalls and antiviruses on both computers, but it still freeze

if I copy/move files from 1 window explorer to second explorer(with network drive) - so all files moved without freezing

what I can do for resolving this trouble?

I use TC 7.04a

thanks

Configuration -> Options... -> Operation "Copy/Delete"
[x] Use compatibility mode for the following drives:
*
for all drives, or \ for network, or list the drive letters of your mapped network drives.

F1 Help wrote:The compatibility mode is useful for special drives, which cause problems with the default or big file mode, e.g. USB memory sticks. Simply enter the desired drive letters here, and/or \ for the network neighborhood, or * for all. This mode isn't available under Windows 9x/ME. It uses the Windows function CopyFileEx.

Code: Select all

\ZY
is more than sufficient here.

With WiFi you mean a WLAN connection (IEEE 802.11g-2003 54Mbit/s)?
The typical throughput for this kind of connection is about 19MBit/s (depending on the radio signal quality maybe even less than this).

Keep in mind that TC shows the transfer speed in kByte/s (MByte/s). :!:

If TC indicates that the copy speed is 1.2Mbyte/s, this would mean that the speed in MBit/s is approximately 9.8MBit/s.

Another point may be that the WLAN adapter is connected via USB1.1 port.
The theoretical maximum speed for USB 1.1 Fullspeed is 12MBit/s (approx 1.4MByte/s).

Yes, I meen WLAN connection, but N series (up to 300-400 Mbps, depending on router/adapter compatibility), so i get full WiFi throughput.
On second computer I have usb 2.0 :) (400 Mbps)

As I said, if I configure "Use compatibility mode for the following drives: \Z" - so my speed decrease to 0.5-1.2 MBps . And I don't know what can be a trouble

1.2Mbps (mega bits per second) = 0.15MByte/s ?
That's really slow.

Maybe a power saving option problem.

 Very slow synchronize dirs over network

Holger

Ah, sorry.
I have to say that I don't like this convention to differ between bits and Bytes by capitalizing the b.
This is often leading to confusion or misunderstandings.
It's complex enough to bear in mind, that the M in Mbit/s is 10^6 and the M in MByte/s normally means 2^20.

Holger
