Cannot save my folder tabs.

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Cannot save my folder tabs.

Post by *5h17h34d »

Just installed Vista.

Copied my previous XP install of Wincommander over.

The tabs are obviously not correct for stuff like Desktop and My Documents.

I finally had to delete the tabs manually from the ini. When I created new folder tabs Wincommander now will not save them. All other settings appear to save correctly in the ini.

WTF?

Vista HP
TC version 704a
I store ini's in the app folder.
Searched for other ini's that might be getting read but there are none.

Quickly losing patience with this BS operating system. (had to install to get my ^%$#*&! hdtv cap card to work if you must know).

Hello, 5h17h34d.

I strongly suspect that your problem saving the folder tabs is pretty unrelated to Vista.
(I can save my folder tabs without any hassle on Vista in case I choose to.)

Saving folder tabs can be achieved
  • by right clicking on a tab header and selecting "Save tabs to file" or "Save tabs on both sides to file".
Later on you can use "Load tabs from file, keep current" or "Load tabs (saved earlier) and append the tabs to the existing" or "Load tabs from file, replace tabs " in order to restore the saved folder tabs.
  • by making sure that inside "Configuration" => "Options" => "Operation", the relevant "Save On Exit" item has been activated: "Directories"
    TC helpfile wrote:Save on exit
    Directories
When Total Commander is closed, the directories shown in the left and right panel will be saved. This option will also save folder tabs when they are enabled.
HTH,
Karl

Wow, no idea how that got unchecked. It was a straight folder copy from xp to vista.

Thanks!
