I tried to write a problem report but couldn't manage to get past the spam control. So I hope this message will allow me to send my real message tomorrow...

WebDAV plugin cannot connect with SSL

Sorry, still no real message, I tried to submit my question several times but am still getting this error:
On the other hand most of my problem I wanted to post has gone away somehow so it isn't that important, but still...
a bit frustrated

I didn't have any web links, just the protocol names and it is a bit difficult to explain without naming the difference between encrypted and unencrypted webdav. And as I said the original problem is gone without any config change (very mysterious).
So, what is left is more or less the question if it is possible to use the plugin with public key authentication because I want to allow only this on my server for connections from the internet. Then I would have a key with only a few days/weeks validity on my USB stick and even if I loose it I can revoke the key and it won't be valid after a short time anyway.
I just hate passwords and I would like to do all my file managment tasks with TC and for this I need a WebDAV client plugin that a) can use encryption (seems to work now) and b) can use client certificates.
Alternative seems to be a firefox plugin I found recently but TC is certainly better as a file manager than firefox

There is a thread in the german forum: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=19887
The last webdav beta is based on it and it's about client certicates. So it should be possible to work with certificates.

Thanks for the hint! The beta version on that page worked but again I had the problem that it first failed (this time with a "403 Forbidden" error message) but then suddenly worked without a config change.
[some more tests later]
I am getting the 403 messages again! I didn't change anything but noticed that only a few of my settings were saved. I have to select again the "Apache on Linux", the SSL checkbox and the certificate. Isn't it possible to save all the settings? It would be very helpful if I could just double click the server entry and everything is taken from the ini-file.
But even if I redo all the settings I am now no longer able to connect. Any idea what might be causing this? (As mentioned above I had this before but I could connect at least once).
[even more tests later]
it seems now that it never worked with SSL. I could reproduce that when I select the "Apache on Linux" again the SSL checkbox is cleared and then the connection works without encryption which is allowed inhouse as I am now.
Everything works fine with IE (both as web page and web folder).
[really wanted to solve this, so more poking around]
Finally, with another TC (7.04a instead of 6.54a) everything worked as advertised
Only minor remaining problem: I still get the connection form when I double click an the server entry in the webdav "subdir". Would be nice if TC would just connect without asking further questions or at least try to connect and only show the box when the connection fails.
