Fine, but still confusing: If I select an existing Plugins on the left (e.g. Fonts.wlx) and press the "...-Button" to select another plugin, then I have the entry "Fonts.wlx", but connected with e.g. "arch.wlx" ????
I don't think it's bug. This feature was meant for easy changing path to plugin file for an existing entry.
OK. But in this case there should be a "strong connection / dependency" between the selected Plugin and the name in the list to avoid a connection between "Plugin A in List" and "Plugin B in pathname".

Hello fenix_productions

I played around again (not to deep because lack of time).
  • Bug fixes: fine!
  • HTML - Export: fine!
  • HTML - external header and footer: Where? What? I don't understand.
  • "No preview": If there is no preview the row should be smaller. Now it is too large because it uses the user-settings.
  • Output-filename: The default-name should be a concatenation like "File1_File2.html"; the default-name "output" is not helpful.
  • HTML-Export: should optionally start the browser to display the file
  • HTML-Export: the width of the columns seem to be smaller then the columns in Comparer. Longer lines are wrapped in HTML, but not in Comparer.
To my mind the software has reached a fine structure and usability. The next steps could be improving the usage of the "missing plugins".

Best regards and
thanks a lot

Put "header.html" and "footer.html" files into your Comparer directory. Write whatever you want inside them and generate HTML report then.

I will definitely make that part better (both: from GUI and help file). Currently I can't focus on that due the lack of time.
Peter wrote: "No preview": If there is no preview the row should be smaller. Now it is too large because it uses the user-settings.
I'll think about it.
Peter wrote: Output-filename: The default-name should be a concatenation like "File1_File2.html"; the default-name "output" is not helpful.
I want to make proper option for it.
Peter wrote:HTML-Export: should optionally start the browser to display the file
Personally I don't like such feature in some apps but I will make it optional.
Peter wrote: HTML-Export: the width of the columns seem to be smaller then the columns in Comparer. Longer lines are wrapped in HTML, but not in Comparer.
Wrapping for HTML is made by your browser. You can play a little bit with HTML layout by editing provided CSS file but not everything is possible now.

Please also remember that HTML will not look exactly the same as application's window.

As for Comparer: did you enabled wrapping in Options?

I am still trying but without any success. Unfortunately: I have no idea how to make few things work in C# (ex. ContentSetDefaultParams). Maybe those missing features are the reason of Comparer's crashes during load but I am not 100% sure.

Sorry that I can not help - I'm not a programmer. But maybe Frank8244 can help again?

He helped me a lot but this is not the matter of language itself but rather whole .NET framework. Well, I've asked for that starting with C# so... I shouldn't complain.

Currently I am happy that I went do far. I've never believed that I can write something like that :)

1.0.3.0 is available.

Since now when there is no thumbnails, "No preview" row will be hidden by default. This feature is now connected with "Show empty/error nodes" option., so the only way to see it again is checking it.

There is also the possibility to see files icons too.
When there is no thumbnail, icon will be shown. This procedure will also resize row's height when needed.

I am sorry but I didn't look into Comparer's code for a while. Last time I had no idea how to solve it but after a break I might have few ideas to check.

Thank you for being interested in.

Comparer 1.0.6.0  is out

The main change is replacing internal plugins handling engine with external DLL (wdx_proxy) written by Franck8244.
Thanks to this step few more plugins work with my tool (xPDFSearch - finally).

I have also uploaded Extended pack which contains:
- Comparer and ComparerCmd tools,
- Office 2007 plugin - for viewing MS Office 2007 files properties,
- SVGwdx plugin - for viewing SVG images properties,
- xPDFSearch plugin - for PDF files properties (by Lefteous).
